Euda Wine

Scott’s experience was incredibly helpful to us. He was the only person we connected with who made a gameplan for us and laid out everything we needed to do. It felt like we had our own personal guide throughout the process. He was always available, very responsive, and straightforward. He didn’t beat around the bush – everything was very clear working with him.

Client Profile

Euda Wine is an urban winery located in Old Fort, North Carolina, 30 minutes east of Asheville, born out of a passion for local, North Carolina vineyards. Their menu features a full range of premium wines made from North Carolina and regional grapes. Euda Wine plans to cover all the bases from a wine style standpoint, offering primarily dry wines and sparkling wines, ranging from traditional Beaujolais French styles to newer techniques. Their tasting room and tap room will also offer ciders on draft and cheeses, cheese alternatives, and meats from local farms, as well as an evolving rotation of on-site food trucks. Additionally, Euda Wine plans to host events and educational experiences about the winemaking process.

Loan Profile

Business owner Michael McGreary began his wine career as a certified sommelier in 2012, working in restaurants and then, moving to Napa, California, where he fell in love with the winemaking process. From there, he pursued a graduate degree in viticulture in Switzerland before eventually returning to the east coast of the United States, working across Virginia and Maryland. Throughout his career, Michael has spent over a decade making wine throughout four different countries, gathering experience in techniques throughout the world. Ultimately, however, his dream was to bring his passion for winemaking to his home state of North Carolina. In 2022, Michael and his wife moved back to North Carolina and together, started Euda Wine. After determining an SBA loan to be the most viable option to finance the business, Michael was connected to Business Lending Specialist, Scott Birkner. The SBA Program, along with the favorable rate that it offered, allowed the husband-and-wife team to take out a larger loan than they’d originally planned. Together, Michael, his wife, and the team at Dogwood State Bank were able to secure an SBA 7(a) Loan to finance the dream project and start Euda Wine.
